一些特殊行業(yè)的大型生產(chǎn)企業(yè)、部分大型流通企業(yè)在倉(cāng)儲(chǔ)設(shè)施上加大了投資力度，近些年新建了大量的立體倉(cāng)庫(kù)、甚至是自動(dòng)化程度較高的立體庫(kù)，在組織體系上，組建了獨(dú)立的倉(cāng)儲(chǔ)或物流公司，在承擔(dān)自身倉(cāng)儲(chǔ)與運(yùn)輸業(yè)務(wù)的同時(shí)也為社會(huì)服務(wù)。生產(chǎn)企業(yè)，以大型煙草公司（煙廠）、大型醫(yī)藥公司（藥廠）較為普遍，家電生產(chǎn)企業(yè)以海爾比較突出；零售企業(yè)以一些大型連鎖超市公司為代表，如上海華聯(lián)、蘇寧電器等。中小制造企業(yè)常常選擇自營(yíng)倉(cāng)庫(kù)而不是公共倉(cāng)庫(kù)，目前大多數(shù)中小制造企業(yè)自營(yíng)倉(cāng)庫(kù)采用的是將分揀|備貨和存儲(chǔ)場(chǎng)所混合在一起的布局設(shè)計(jì)，即利用現(xiàn)有的存儲(chǔ)區(qū)域，在必要時(shí)對(duì)堆碼高度|相對(duì)于出庫(kù)站臺(tái)的存貨位置|貨位的尺寸加以調(diào)節(jié)，提高效率。中小制造企業(yè)的倉(cāng)庫(kù)之所以會(huì)形成目前混合使用的狀況，是受到我國(guó)制造業(yè)傳統(tǒng)觀念的影響。中小制造企業(yè)自營(yíng)倉(cāng)庫(kù)的作用僅限于存儲(chǔ)物料，而對(duì)于倉(cāng)庫(kù)的存儲(chǔ)成本和空間利用地很少考慮，無(wú)形中增加了企業(yè)的庫(kù)存成本。
