摘要
霍桑在創(chuàng)作巨著《紅字》時(shí)的“意義含糊”和“感情矛盾”的寫(xiě)作風(fēng)格導(dǎo)致了關(guān)于其主題多元化的評(píng)論和分析。從人性的角度審視這部作品,人類(lèi)文明與人性應(yīng)該是協(xié)調(diào)一致的,人類(lèi)文明不應(yīng)壓抑也無(wú)法壓抑人性。本文對(duì)這部作品中的主題和人物進(jìn)行了探悉,指出霍桑巧妙地運(yùn)用了象征手法,揭示了清教壓抑下的人性扭曲與異化,從而表達(dá)一種沖破枷鎖,建立新道德的美好希望。

ABSTRACT
Hawthorn’s ambiguity and ambiguity in writing his masterpiece The Scarlet Letter leads to pluralistic comments and analysis on its theme. Examing this novel from the standpoint of human nature, one could see that the human civilization should correspond with the human nature and that the human civilization shouldn’t and couldn’t depress the human nature. This essay makes a brief exploration of the theme and the characters of this novel, and shows that Hawthorne makes tactful use of symbolism and exposes tortuosity and heterization of the constrained human nature by Puritanism to express his beautiful hope breaking through shackles and establishing new morals.
